Cognition & Coordination

A MOVI themed format exploring attention, rhythm, reaction and the body's ability to think through movement.

Cognition & Coordination is a MOVI themed format in which we explore how the body perceives, makes decisions and organises movement in a changing environment.

This direction brings together rhythm, reaction, spatial awareness, balance, quality of attention and the ability to act together with others.

The format can be organised as a 6–8 week process, a workshop or an intensive weekend event. Dates, price and registration will be announced when the format is scheduled.

WHAT WE WILL EXPLORE

MOVI kognicijos ir koordinacijos praktika: dėmesio, reakcijos ir rankų mostų užduotys grupėje

Attention and reaction

We will learn to notice change quickly, adjust our actions and maintain clarity while moving. We will work with reaction games, hand–eye coordination, rhythm and the ability to stay present.

Rhythm and spatial awareness

We will explore how the body moves through time and space: directions, distances, trajectories, pace, pauses and transitions. Here, coordination emerges from a sensitive relationship with the environment and other people.

Body organisation

We will discover how different parts of the body connect into one coherent action. Arm gestures, steps, weight shifts and gaze become a single living system.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN AND GAIN

    • Sense the body's orientation in space, rhythm, direction and distance more clearly.

    • Improve coordination between the eyes, hands, feet and spine while moving upright.

    • Respond more quickly to changing tasks, a partner and the environment.

    • Maintain attention, balance and movement quality even as conditions change.

    • Combine arm gestures, steps, jumps and turns into clearer movement sequences.

    • Experience how movement develops not only the body, but also perception, decision-making and learning.

WHO IT IS FOR

The format is for people who want to deepen their coordination, reaction, quality of attention and clarity of movement in upright tasks that unfold through space. Experience helps, but curiosity and a willingness to explore how the body learns, decides and adapts matter most. The process is active, playful and requires attentive participation.

WHY COGNITION & COORDINATION?

    • This direction clearly shows that movement is not only muscular work, but also a process of perception, attention and decision-making.

    • In practice, we develop the ability to see, listen, respond and act with greater precision.

    • Coordination is understood as a living alignment of the body, environment, rhythm and relationship with others.

    • The tasks are often playful, but quickly reveal how we learn, tense up, adapt or lose clarity.

    • The format can follow Movement Foundations or be used as a separate in-depth exploration of bodily intelligence.

    • It is a strong direction for people who want not simply to move more, but to move with greater awareness, precision and vitality.

PRACTICAL MAPS OF COGNITION & COORDINATION

1

Directions of attention and focus – how gaze, hearing, touch and awareness of the environment change the organisation of movement.

2

Arm gestures and the body's centre – the relationship between the arms, spine, pelvis and feet in upright coordination tasks.

3

Rhythm, tempo and pause – moving at different speeds and responding to time, music, a partner or an unexpected signal.

4

Balance and reaction – the body's ability to remain responsive when support, direction, the task or environmental conditions change.

5

Movement sequences and partnership – combining coordination principles in partner, group and individual situations.
